NEW YEAR EVE COMES WITH LOT OF THINGS

Everyone is busy in preparations for the New Year. Punietes have started their preparations for the event. From top police officer to the common person start preparing for the New Year eve night. We have many such people sharing their plans for this great night which we await.
Chief Inspector, Mahadev Chavan of Chaturshrinji Police Station says, “This night is very important to us as we’ve to make many arrangements beforehand so that we can maintain the law and order in our area.” He continues, “We have to make sure that every pubs and bars are closed on the propose time by us. They have to maintain certain security measures which we check before the eve.” They have to see that every measure is being taken properly in the area to avoid any kind of activity. The traffic police are increased in the areas which are more prone to accidents. They are being provided with equipments which will able to measure that is the person is drunk or not. This is the time when they record many accidents all over the city and they have to be prepared to stop such casualty. They have increased the number of metal detector and the guards present at places where they expect more crowd. On being asked that he don’t get chance to celebrate New Year with his family, so how does he feel, he replied with a smile, “Your safety is our priority. When you celebrate it safely, we assume that we’ve celebrated with you.”
If this New Year comes with a responsibility for the Police officers, then it comes with an opportunity for the restaurant and bars to earn good money. Vijay Uttekar, the manager of Shivar Garden in Jagtapdairy, says, “On the eve of New Year more than double customer come than other day.” This give them chance to earn more and the price of items fluctuate accordingly. The restaurants are opened till the time decided in the meeting between area Commissioner of Police and the owners in a week advance. The time increases by an hour on the eve than normal. As the security of the customers are concerned, he said is taken care by them. They look that no mishap occur and when they see any chance then get alert. On eve, they arrange a small DJ for the customers. They don’t allow any person if he’s totally drunk. Wine shop owners across the city are one of them who get to make money on this day. Ram Matre, owner of Impress Wine Shop, says, “During New Year Eve, we have to heir few guys to help us out. We get many customers and it gets difficult to handle them.” The wine shop owners are given closing time by area Commissioner and maintain that. There are cases in which the unauthorized seller are found selling liquor every year. In this he said, “We have been authorized to sell liquor. We take the special permission to sell it on Eve.”
As far as the common man is concerned, the New Year Eve comes to them as an opportunity to celebrate this big day with their family. They purchase new dress and book themselves in pubs, bars, and disco. Few like to celebrate it in home by making delicious foods where as few like to enjoy it with family and friends in a restaurant. The youth move out in groups to different destinations like pubs, discos and places where they can dance and drink. When asked about the safety they take while they are out in New Year eve during which many accidents occur, Sandeep Singh, student of management, says, “We take it fully. I avoid driving when I’m totally drunk. But normally I avoid drinking much.” Whereas Akshay Rao, studying graduation, says, “Accident not only occurs because of your fault. The others are also responsible for this. So no matter how aware you are, if accident has to occur it will occur. But I drive safely.” When asked from Mahadev Chavan, Chief Inspector of Chaturshrinji Police Station about what message he would like to give to the people of Pune, he says, “I have only one message for the people that please drive safely and don’t drink much.” Hope this message will be followed by each and every person of Pune.
